The networks are still largely too little followed and too little renewed. However, according to the South-East Canalisers Union, the rate of leakage from drinking water networks in Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes could reach 40%, due to the lack of rapid enough renewal of the networks:

The European Commission has just published its 10th report on the implementation of the Urban Wastewater Treatment Directive, which reports an overall improvement in European cities, while highlighting different levels of success according to the Member States. The report is part of the Commission’s efforts to achieve the “zero pollution” objective and comes ahead of the chemicals strategy that will be adopted in the coming weeks:
