The most important impacts of climate change affect the water resource. From rising waters to floods to record droughts, water will largely define how humanity experiences climate change. In this short video, the Wilson Center Environmental Change and Safety Program and the International Institute for Water Management explain the risks associated with this resource and how to integrate water security planning into our responses to water’s climate adaptation:

Technology

Idrica developed the first 5G-NR device specifically for the water industry. This equipment based on 5G-NR (New Radio) technology, will provide solutions to challenges in Massive IoT scenarios, with millions of devices connected in very small areas:

Regulation

Bérangère Abba went to Lille to take stock of the consultation relating to the Master Plan for Water Development and Management (SDAGE) project for the Artois Picardie basin, which will set the objectives for the protection and restoration of water resources for the period 2022-2027. She presented the first national plan for a sustainable management of rainwater:

Financing

The French Insurance Federation (FFA) publishes its study “Impact of climate change on insurance by 2050”. This study, updating a first publication in 2015, figures the evolution of the cost of climate in the next 30 years by dissociating the cost linked to climate change itself from that attributable to purely economic or situational factors. It presents peril-per-peril conclusions (drought, flood, marine submersion, storm) and confirms that the cost of natural hazards will continue to increase at a rate of doubling every 30 years. The preponderance of the water cycle in this study highlights the need to increase adaptation efforts:
